This case study considers a rigid spherical object (human head, or a ball) impacting a block of flexible foam, and deals with elastic structures in compression.
This case study familiarises student with a range of types of packaging.There is a design exercise in which the packaging performance when impacted is related to the polymer and foam shape and density.
This case study deals with ways of reducing peak pressures when sitting on a seat for a prolonged period, for instance in a wheelchair.
